A broad area of low pressure 1525 miles east of the Lesser Antilles is now Tropical Depression Six. Steady strengthening is expected and the tropical depression could soon be Tropical Storm Florence. Its forecast northwest track would keep it well away from the Lesser Antilles, but this developing tropical cyclone will need to be monitored closely.

Even farther out in the Atlantic, a tropical low, in tandem with a cluster of showers and thunderstorms, is moving westward just southwest of the Cape Verde Islands.

Closer to the U. S., a tropical wave pushing westward into the central Caribbean Sea, shows no signs of further strengthening.

me too. especially since i don't have cable right now, i have to check online a zillion times a day! i'm totally hurricane obsessed. i'm from NJ, and though we don't get hit often, i have been reading lots of reports from scientists that say this year there is a higher chance. crazy. where are you from?

Gulf Shores, Alabama...where Hurricane Ivan made a direct hit in 2004. (near Mobile)
